Phase change lab
In this lab we had to demonstrate different phase changes of water. Everybody was assigned a group and each group then preformed a different phase change. We then convened together at the end to see the full circle phase change of water This included freezing to melting and then to evaporation/ vaporization. Me and my partner specifically had the process of freezing , and for out part of the lab we set a test tube full of water in a ice and salt mixture and measured the temperature electronically using and electronic thermometer and a computer program to document the phase change. We then collected the data including a table and graph that was then compiled on a larger sheet of paper to share with the group.
Airbag activity
In the airbag lab our purpose was to stimulate a proper airbag. To do this we had to use stoichiometry to properly calculate the limiting reactant of baking soda to react with the excess reactant vinegar. If you used stoichiometry correctly in the lab you then in turn ended up with an ideally inflated air bag which me and my partner did end up with. Other elements we had to complete in this lab included writing our own procedure and completing a CER type of conclusion. Overall this lab enforced the stoichiometry concepts that were being covered in class.
